Actress Jennifer Lawrence wowed us with her slim, svelte physique in her revealing outfits as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games last year, and this week the 22-year-old showed off her gorgeous curves in a bodycon dress on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. So of course, we were desperate to know how the 5’7 actress keeps in such great shape…

‘I don't want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I'm going to skip dinner,’

‘I like the way I look’ she says.

‘I’m miserable when I’m dieting. I think it’s really important for girls to have people to look up to and feel good about themselves, but I’m just so sick of these young girls with diets.’

'I’m miserable when I’m dieting'

'I remember when I was 13 and it was cool to pretend to have an eating disorder because there were rumors Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie were anorexic. It was crazy.'

'I went home and told my mum, "Nobody's eating bread - I just had to finish everyone's burgers."'

Jennifer - who is currently filming the second instalment of The Hunger Games – reveals that she would never diet for a part in a film.

‘I don't want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I'm going to skip dinner,' Lawrence said of her character in the popular franchise.

‘That's something I was really conscious of during training...I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong - not thin and underfed.’

The actress, who is dating British actor Nicholas Hoult, also revealed that her size 8-10 frame doesn’t fit the typical Hollywood bill.

‘In Hollywood, I'm obese.

‘I'm considered a fat actress. I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach.’

‘I do want the stick-thin trend to end.'

On exercise

Athletic Jennifer impressed her strength and conditioning coach, Joe Horrigan after getting into shape in just six weeks for her role in The Hunger Games.

‘She worked with me usually twice a day, and that could be a combination of work at the track, which included agility drills, sprint work and running work,’

‘But it’s nice being in shape for a movie, because they basically do it all for you. It's like, 'Here's your trainer. This is what you can eat.'

‘She also had to work with an archery coach three or four days a week and in the evening we would do stationary bike work, a mix of anaerobic and aerobic work.’

‘It was just training, training, training. There was a lot of running. I’ve asked that the second movie have us walk in some scenes!’ said Jennifer, who admits she isn’t a fan of exercise.

‘I hate saying, 'I like exercising.' I want to punch people who say that in the face’ she admits.
