The first child victim of the Grenfell Tower fire has been named

The Grenfell Tower fire claimed over 79 lives, with the figure expected to rise as more bodies are identified

A five-year-old boy has been identified as the first child victim of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Isaac Paulous lived with his family on the 18th floor, and is the first child to be have been named by the Metropolitan Police as a victim of the atrocity.

At an inquest yesterday, his preliminary cause of death was said to be inhalation of fire fumes.

The little boy, who was found on the 13th floor, was identified by dental records.

His family said: "Isaac, our beloved son, was taken from us when he was only five-years-old.

"We will all miss our kind, energetic, generous little boy. He was such a good boy who was loved by his friends and family.

"We will miss him forever, but we know God is looking after him now and that he is safe in heaven."

The police added: "Isaac's family is grieving and ask that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time."

The devastating fire at Grenfell Tower happened two weeks ago, but the official number of lives lost has not yet been released.

As emergency services work through the building to identify the dead, residents in the local area are calling for a figure to be announced.
