Animal lover and dog owner James Roode was walking his dog Opie when he noticed Opie running off into a bush.
He followed his dog and discovered Opie had found an abandoned newborn kitten.
The poor kitten was close to death, covered in maggots and trapped under a log, unable to escape.
James removed his shirt and picked up the poorly kitten, rushing it to a nearby vet practice.
With plenty of care and attention, James nursed the kitten back to health, choosing to keep him and name him Roscoe.

Nowadays, Roscoe and Opie rarely leave each other’s side.
James’ partner Lisa told The Huffington Post: “Both are healthy and happy. Opie is especially enjoying the summer and spends a lot of his time outdoors… Despite this, it is evident that he doesn’t like to be away from Roscoe too long.”
“When he gets back inside, one of the first things he does is check on Roscoe.”
The heart-warming story has since gone viral online, raising awareness for animal rescue.
