A mother diagnosed with terminal cancer has made the heartwarming decision to write her daughter touching letters of encouragement and love for when she passes away.

Heather McManamy, 35, was forced to come to terms with leaving her 4-year-old daughter Brianna after being told she had stage-4 cancer in 2014.

Everything from losing her first tooth to having her first baby, Heather has written a note for every milestone in her daughter’s life.

Heather finds it difficult to look at the pile of letters

Heather explains: “I did them from when she’s older or younger — random encouragement, bad day, wedding, driver license, even first breakup. Every one of these that I get to hand out in person will be an accomplishment.”

The mum-of-one even wrote a card for Bri’s future wedding day, one that would be the most heartbreaking of all.

Heather was diagnosed last year

Heather told WMTV: “That one was emotional, that one was a tough one… You start picturing what she’s going to look like that day.”

Though Heather won’t physically be there to guide her daughter through life, she hopes that Bri will be able to find some comfort in the letters and still feel her mother’s presence.

She added: “I just want her to find her happiness. Life [is] short. If she’s true to herself, everything will be OK.”
