Tayler Hackett is lucky to be alive – over the last 13 years she’s been in hospital over 100 times, nearly died from organ failure and is now left partially sighted.

Tayler is diabetic and needs to inject insulin to survive, but she suffered from ‘diabulimia’ – although not officially recognised as a medical condition it's a serious and growing problem - an eating disorder where diabetics deliberately skip their insulin in order to lose weight.

Tayler, 25, a psychology student in Manchester, says: “I was addicted to not taking insulin and despite the doctors warning me it could make me lose my sight, I didn’t listen.

"I stopped taking my insulin at times because I didn’t like injecting myself and when I started losing weight I loved how I looked. Then my addiction spiraled.

"Now I’ve been left partially sighted. I wish I could turn the clock back and I want to warn others not to do the same.”
