More upsetting details emerge about 11-year-old Evha Jannath who was killed on Drayton Manor water ride

Evha Jannath was killed after she fell from a water ride at Drayton Manor Park and was pulled under the water

Evha Jannath passed away after falling from a water ride at a theme park in May.

The 11-year-old girl was on a school trip when she fell from Splash Canyon at Drayton Manor Theme Park and was dragged under the water.

Despite the little girl falling into the water, her cause of death was found to be "blunt force chest trauma".

Labour MP Keith Vaz, candidate for Leicester, where the Jannath family live, led a parliamentary debate today about the safety of theme parks.

The Commons heard eyewitness accounts that said despite her best attempts to reboard the boat, Evha received "no help" and was "eventually sucked underwater even though her friends called for help.

It was also disclosed that the Jannath family looking into whether negligence may have caused their little girl's death, with Mr Vaz adding that the family are "shocked and in mourning" after her death on 9 May.

He said: "To lose a child is horrific and yet to use that loss in a way that means there will be positive change so that things can be improved for others is, in my view, nothing short of heroic.

"Having spoken to Evha's father Muhammed Islam I know he is set on ensuring that no other families are hit by a tragic event like this again.

"However, for this close-knit and loving family no minute will go past, no day will go by, and no birthday will fail to be acknowledged without longing for their daughter, sister and niece.

"They will never hear little Evha chatting and laughing. They will never be able to see her lovely face. And that is why they want to get to the truth of what has happened, and they deserve nothing less."
