The funeral of Manchester Arena bombing victim Martyn Hett was a true celebration of his fabulous life

The funeral of Martyn Hett - one of the 22 victims of the Manchester Arena terrorist attack - took place today.

In life, the 29-year-old PR manager was fabulous, flamboyant and MASSIVE Coronation Street fan (he hit headlines after he got Corrie legend Deidre Barlow's face tattooed on his leg!), and his funeral - which was billed as a celebration of his life - reflected all these aspects of his personality.

Hundreds of mourners - including famous faces such as Corrie stars Helen Worth, Jennie McAlpine and Kym Marsh, and Pop Idol winner Michelle Mcmanus - joined Martyn's friends and family for the ceremony at Stockport Town Hall.

As per his wishes, Martyn's coffin - which was adorned with images of Coronation, his pet cat and the word 'Iconic' - arrived in a horse-drawn carriage, and was carried into the service to Mariah Carey's song Beautiful.

But that wasn't Mariah's only contribution to the service, as the Grammy award-winning diva was one of a number of stars - including DJ Nick Grimshaw and Manchester comic Jason Manford - who sent video messages to be played.

Meanwhile Michelle McManus - who not only became friends with mega-fan Martyn, but credits him for reviving her career - gave the euology and closed the ceremony with a moving rendition of her song All This Time.

Talking to Sky News, Martyn's mother Figen Murray revealed that the family had help in planning the funeral, as Martyn had previously specified exactly what he'd like.

"Martyn actually had discussed and planned his funeral and the way he wanted to exit," she explained. "He wanted to be cremated, he wanted to have two white horses and he wanted everybody to be dressed in black, with something fabulous."

Martyn's father Paul added: "In the nicest way, Martyn loved being in the limelight and being the centre of attention. He would have loved this fantastic celebration."

Shortly after the ceremony began, the hashtag #BeMoreMartyn began trending on social media, as friends and family - including Martyn's brother Dan - posted pictures celebrting Martyn's amazing zest for life.

If you would like to make a memorial donation, Martyn's family have asked that it be made to Kidscan Children's Cancer Research charity, Beechwood Children's Bereavement Service or Beacon Counselling.
