Prince Charles was reportedly at the centre of a murder plot foiled by police in Ireland.
Gardai (Irish police) allegedly seized bombs and guns from a residence close to Mullaghmore, where Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting next week.
Six people have been arrested and improvised explosives and handguns were found to be in possession of two men in their twenties.
According to reports all men have links with Continuity and Real IRA.
A source has revealed to the Irish Mirror that police have been keeping a close eye on potential targets for the past couple of months.
The insider said: "Gardai have been monitoring a number of people over the past few months.
"Ever since it was announced that the British would be coming over, there has been an increase in security.
"Nothing is being left to chance. There were two improvised viable devices in the car as well as a handgun.
"A similar thing can be said for Wexford. The bomb squad were down there dealing with something similar."
A spokesman for Gardai has confirmed that two men have been arrested on suspicion of ‘offences against the state’.
They said: "Two males in their 20s were arrested at the scene and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Manorhamilton Garda Station.”
