Police in Kent stepped in after a "disturbance" outside Hartsdown Academy on Tuesday morning.
The row came after newly appointed head teacher Matthew Tate sent home 50 pupils for wearing the wrong school uniform following a change in dresscode over the summer.
Reported breaches in uniform included frills on socks, white socks, Velcro shoes and trainers.
"This is a school that has been underperforming and we are determined to do the very best by the children of Thanet,"said headteacher Matthew Tate.
He suggested that adhering to the new uniform rules would ultimately lead to better behaviour and improved grades.
"This is part of raising expectations and standards so that every child has a fantastic education," he added.
"I have had feedback from teachers that behaviour was much better and if we can improve behaviour by 10% then that gives children another 19 days school, so a small amount of time out of school is a price worth paying."
