Ashley Greenhalgh was celebrating her 21st birthday and high school graduation with friends and family, along with her boyfriend Danny.

However, things took a surprise turn when her boyfriend of two years surprised her with a beautiful gift.

Some couples talk about their future together and hope that one day they will eventually get engaged and marry.

However most know that this might not be a possibility for some time, yet there are many people that still want to show their commitment to their other half.

And for Ashley from New Jersey, Danny was about to do just that.

Ashley’s sister Courtney posted a video to Facebook of Ashley excitedly opening her cards and presents, and explained in her post that both Ashley and Danny have Down syndrome.

Courtney also revealed that Danny wanted to “go out of his way to let [her] sister know that the timing [for marriage] isn’t right just yet” but he saved his own money from his job to present Ashley with a “beautiful, diamond promise ring”.

Isn’t that the sweetest thing you’ve ever heard?

When Ashley opens her ring from Danny, she was so excited and shouted: “It’s a ring! I’m getting married!”, to which her family replied that it’s actually a promise ring.

However, Danny got down on one knee to explain to Ashley that he bought the promise ring so that she knows one day he wants to marry her.

Ashley couldn’t stop smiling and when Danny placed the ring on her finger, the whole room cheered.

But writing what happens doesn’t do the video justice, so watch it for yourself here:

We don’t know about you, but we definitely need a box of tissues after watching that.

Since Courtney shared her video, which she hoped to go viral, it’s been watched over 1.2 million times across the world, and has been shared almost 1000 times.

Would you consider buying your other half a promise ring if the time for marriage wasn’t right just yet?
