It never rains but it pours, eh?

We may have enjoyed a (semi) sunny Bank Holiday weekend, but it seems as if the British weather is back to doing what it does best this week - raining.

A lot.

Last night, we saw severe weather warnings issued for parts of the UK as it was predicted that a MONTH’S worth of rain could fall in one evening.

Met Office forecaster Emma Boorman told ITV News: "There has been a lot of thunder activity over the near continent and that is set to push towards us overnight.

"It will start in south east England so don't be surprised if you wake up to a few rumbles of thunder in the early morning.

"As the day goes on that rain will travel north towards the Midlands and Yorkshire.

"And we could see 60mm of rain in just a few hours, which is average for the whole month of May."

Throw in those INTENSE winds and you have a recipe for a very bad hair day, we say.

And it seems as if these thundery storms are set to continue over the next two days.

According to the official Met Office website, there are yellow warnings in place for today (31 May) and tomorrow (1 June), as “there is the risk that rain will turn torrential in places, with frequent lightning.”

It adds: “Winds will also increase, with northerly gales on coasts. Whilst most places will miss the worst of the weather, please be aware of the risk of flash flooding.”

Just your typical British summer, eh?

Thank goodness we’re all old hats at this by now; time to fish out the wellie boots and raincoats again, everyone!

Were you caught out by the rain this morning? We turned up to work looking like drowned rats, personally.
