Nicola Colenso took to Facebook to share her shocking experience of a rude passenger on a plane. She was travelling with her children and partner on a flight back from Ibiza to Manchester when they were verbally abused by the passenger.

One of her children – an eight-year-old girl – suffers from epilepsy, autism and Sturge-Weber syndrome (a rare skin disorder) and was not feeling well.

The mum-of-four said it was clear that everyone knew her daughter was not feeling well after she had what Nicola described as "a meltdown" on the flight.

However the passenger turned around and asked Nicola and her partner to "Shut that child up!"

Nicola posted on Facebook a message to the passenger, writing: "We explained her [their daughters] situation to you very politely and said we are sorry if she is causing a problem and maybe ask if she could be moved?"

However, the passenger continued to ask their child to "shut up" and swore at the children's dad in front of the four children.

In the post Nicola wrote that the woman's behaviour did not help the situation or their daughter's anxiety. She also explained that their day didn't get any better as their daughter ended up in hospital that night.

"That same little eight-year-old girl ended up being taken to hospital by ambulance that evening as she became seriously unwell."

The post on Facebook has been shared over 90,000 times and has over 3,000 comments. Many people have shown their support in the comment section, however some people have commented whether Nicola is telling the truth.

One person wrote: "I would say the fact the mum felt the need to post of social media and take a picture to shame this woman suggests she maybe wasn't as 'polite' as she thought."
