Gay couple Tony and Barrie Drewitt-Barlow made headlines in 1999 when they became the first known same-sex parents in the UK.

Now, the proud dads- dermatologist Tony (known as Dad), 53, and Barrie (Daddy), 45- have splurged over £200,000 on twins Aspen and Saffron's 16th birthday.

The couple splashed £30,000 on an LA nightclub- themed pool party for 175 guests. They also spent £180,000 on gifts, including a £110,000 black Porsche sports car for son Aspen and £25,000 in cash and a £2,500 collection of designer handbags for daughter Saffron.

But while Barrie admits he enjoys indulging his kids, he insists they're 'well-rounded' and that he couldn't be prouder.

Dad-of-five Barrie says: "I know people say they're spoilt, but I don't care. We can afford it, so why not? They only turn 16 once, so it was a chance to spoil them both. We spent nine months planning the party and flew in a DJ from America. Saffron went to New York especially to buy her outfit, which cost over £1,000."
