She announced her engagement to fellow actor Thomas Sadoski back in September, and Amanda Seyfried is already certain about one major detail of her upcoming wedding: she definitely won’t be wearing white for her trip down the aisle. And no, it’s not because she’s getting married on a Wednesday…

Speaking to Vogue Australia, the actress revealed why she’s chosen to break with tradition and opt for an unconventional bridal style, explaining, ‘I don’t want to be the centre of attention. I get to go to premieres and get dressed up all the time. I went to the Met Gala last year in a wedding gown designed by Riccardo Tisci; I’ve played a bride a billion times.’

While Amanda is of course exaggerating slightly, by our count she’s walked down the aisle on-screen three times so far: as Meryl Streep’s all-singing, all-dancing daughter in Mamma Mia, as the still-singing (but without the dancing) Cosette in the film adaptation of Les Miserables and in rom-com The Big Wedding.

It seems that the actress has been set upon avoiding a white wedding for a while: speaking to E! back in 2015, she revealed ‘I got married so many times in my life – on screen! I don’t want a white dress. I’ve worn so many of them. You know what I mean? The fact is, that kind of stuff is less about the ceremony and more about the commitment.’

Amanda met husband-to-be Thomas in that very year, when they appeared together in The Way We Get By, an off-Broadway theatre production, and again in The Last Word. The actress was spotted wearing an engagement ring in September; two months later, it was revealed that she is expecting her first child.

Though she might be opting for an unconventional dress, Amanda is clearly ready to make a trip down the aisle for real. I’ve never been excited by anything more in my life,’ she told Vogue Australia. ‘And ready.’
