Where were you when you found out that Beyoncé is pregnant with twins?
Ever since the singer dropped her announcement on Instagram last week, revealing that her and husband Jay-Z are expecting not one but two new additions to their family, we’ve had more questions than answers. When are the babies (Bey-bies?) due? Will Beyoncé still perform at Coachella? And is she expecting boys, girls or one of each?
On that last count, it seems that Beyoncé’s father Matthew Knowles might just have dropped some major hints – and seeing as the singer is unlikely to divulge much information about her pregnancy until she’s given birth later this year, we’ll take all the hints we can get right now.
Speaking on CBS’s The Insider show, Knowles admitted that he wasn’t aware of his daughter’s news prior to her social media announcement, revealing that he was ‘shocked’ when he started to receive messages of congratulation on her behalf.
‘I got a text and I’m like, why is this person saying “Congratulations.” I didn’t know myself,’ he said, adding that he approved of his daughter’s ‘strategy.’
‘That was very smart that she did it rather than someone else, the media, doing it. I think there’s strategy. I think there’s more to come,’ he said. ‘I’m extremely proud, extremely happy both for Jay and for her.’
At the end of his interview, though, Matthew dropped the biggest hint to date when discussing his granddaughter Blue Ivy’s response to the news, stating that ‘Blue is gonna have brothers and sisters. She is already excited.’
Afterwards, Matthew seemed to realise his mistake, attempting to backtrack from his comment by claiming that ‘you have to say both because I don’t know if it’s either,’ but we’re going to take his accidental tip-off as further evidence that Beyoncé is expecting a boy and a girl.
Since her Instagram reveal, fans have taken the singer’s decision to pose in a dark pink bra with blue knickers as a clue as to the gender of her unborn twins.
While Beyoncé herself is likely to remain tight-lipped for the rest of her pregnancy, it's thought that the singer will still perform at the Grammys this weekend.
