It's been a long time coming but Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalised their divorce on Friday according to the BBC.
The former couple were married for under 18 months before they announced their split in May 2016, after Heard accused Depp of domestic abuse, which the 53-year-old actor denies.
The divorce settlement reached its end when Depp agreed to pay Heard $7 million, which she has pledged to donate to the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
Depp will retain sole possession of his various properties including his private island in the Bahamas alongside more than 40 vehicles. Whilst Heard will take custody of the former couple's Yorkshire Terriers, Pistol and Boo.
Heard has also dropped her request for a continued restraining order against her estranged husband and a confidentiality provision prevents both of them from discussing their relationship in the public.
Both parties have agreed not to provide each other with spousal support.
Heard's lawyer, Pierce O'Donnell, said it was a 'great day' for his client, as he announced: "All Amber wanted was to be divorced and now she is."

Amber Heard recently filed a Request for Order with the Los Angeles Superior Court against Depp, ordering him to pay $6.8 million. This was as a consequence to the actor failing to comply with other aspects of the divorce agreeement.
These include shipping her property from his private island in the Bahamas, transferring a Range Rover into Heard's name and the division of personal goods.
But it seems Depp is also seeking payment.
The actor has now requested that the court order Heard to pay $100k in legal fees. If Heard doesn't pay the sum within ten days, Depp wants to deduct it from their divorce settlement.
Depp's lawyer Laura Wasser stated in the court filing: "The impact of her relentless pursuit on Johnny - the damage her false allegations have caused his personal and professional reputation, his and his family's emotional well-being, and his finances appears to be of no interest to Amber."
A court hearing for legal fee payment is scheduled to take place on January 13, 2017.

Amber Heard has announced that she will donate the entirety of her $7 million divorce settlement from Johnny Depp to charity.
In a statement, the actress revealed that she will donate half of the money to the American Civil Liberties Union, 'with a particular focus to stop violence against women.' The other half is earmarked for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, where she has volunteered for ten years.
'Money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity,' she said, adding that she wished to 'help those less able to defend themselves.'
'I know these organisations will put the funds to good use and look forward to continuing to support them in the future. Hopefully, this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most,' she continued.
Amber settled her divorce and domestic abuse case against Johnny Depp earlier this week, after having filed the necessary legal documents on Tuesday and withdrawing her request for a domestic violence restraining order.
It is thought that she refused to accept an $8 million settlement from Depp as he refused to sign a statement admitting to being violent.
The former couple released a statement which described their relationship as 'intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love.'
'There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains.'
'Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity,' the statement finishes.

As the divorce case continues, Johnny Depp has made a bold statement by amending his tribute tattoo to his estranged wife Amber Heard across his knuckles.
The actor had his nickname for Heard ‘slim’ tattooed across his hand, but has now had the inking changed to read ‘scum’.

Amber Heard’s domestic violence restraining order against estranged husband Johnny Depp has been extended until 15 August, according to reports.
The actress was granted the restraining order against Depp after she filed for divorce at the end of May.
This follows reports from TMZ that Heard’s request for $50,000 a month maintenance may be granted by Depp in the divorce settlement, for up to eight months.
Other reports suggest that Depp will avoid court appearances where possible and plans to remain on his private island in the Bahamas.

A judge has denied Johnny Depp’s lawyer’s request to depose Amber Heard a week before next week’s scheduled hearing about the restraining order against Depp, according to reports.
Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser reportedly requested to depose Heard and her neighbour and witness Raquel Pennington on Friday, but was denied the motion as it failed to give Heard the required 10-day notice.
The judge stated: "Respondent's request to take deposition of [Heard] is denied, as the request was untimely noticed.”
It has also been reported that Heard has not been given enough time to locate all the documents requested by Wasser for the case.
"Amber has not been given sufficient time to locate the requested documents," Heard’s attorney Samantha Spector stated.
"The request requires Amber to review over six months of personal communications with potentially every person she has spoken with, to search for any passing reference to the incidents in question. This is unduly burdensome."

The video, posted Friday, shows Depp promoting an upcoming concert in Bucharest. While it is unclear when the video was filmed, it marks Depp’s first official on-camera appearance since news of the divorce went public.
"We hope to see you there and have some big fun," Depp says to camera.

Amber Heard's lawyers have issued a statement to the Los Angeles Police Department, regarding the actress's domestic abuse allegations against Johnny Depp.
The statement, which was released by lawyers Samantha F. Spector and Joseph P. Koening, seeks to set the record straight against the backdrop of headlines surrounding the high-profile divorce case.
Here is the statement in full:
“As the result of Amber’s decision to decline giving an initial statement to the LAPD, her silence has been used against her by Johnny’s team. Amber did not provide a statement to the LAPD in an attempt to protect her privacy and Johnny’s career.
“Johnny’s team has forced Amber to give a statement to the LAPD to set the record straight as to the true facts, as she cannot continue to leave herself open to the vicious false and malicious allegations that have infected the media.
“Amber has suffered through years of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of Johnny.
“In domestic violence cases, it is not unusual for the perpetrator's playbook to include miscasting the victim as the villain.
“In reality, Amber acted no differently than many victims of domestic violence, who think first of the harm that might come to the abuser, rather than the abuse they have already suffered.
“Amber can no longer endure the relentless attacks and outright lies launched against her character in the Court of Public Opinion since the tragic events of May 21st. With her statement Amber hopes to give the LAPD the opportunity to conduct an accurate and complete investigation into the events of that evening and before. If that occurs, and the truth is revealed, there is no doubt that Amber’s claims will be substantiated beyond any doubt, and hopefully Johnny will get the help that he so desperately needs.
“From the beginning, it has been Amber's desire to keep this matter as private as possible, even though LAPD officers responded to a 911 call made by a third-party. The LAPD officers viewed not only the disarray that Johnny had caused in the apartment but also the physical injuries to Amber’s face. We filed the Petition for Dissolution of Marriage at the very end of the day on Monday May 23rd and we did not serve Johnny with the Petition at the premiere of Alice Through the Looking Glass that evening. We sent a letter to Johnny's counsel team the next morning making it clear we wanted to keep this matter out of the media. We then held off requesting a domestic violence restraining order as we knew that Johnny was out of the country.
“We took the high road. Unfortunately, Johnny's team immediately went to the press and began viciously attacking Amber’s character. Amber is simply a victim of domestic violence, and none of her actions are motivated by money. Amber is a brave and financially independent woman who is showing the courage of her convictions by doing the right thing against Johnny's relentless army of lawyers and surrogates.

Not long after Lily-Rose Depp defended her father on Instagram - Johnny Depp's long-time friend, comedian Doug Stanhope, wrote on The Wrap that the 52 year old actor is being blackmailed by his estranged wife, Amber Heard - after she filed court documents alleging that Johnny assaulted her.
'Johnny Depp got used, manipulated, set up,' according to Doug. 'And he saw it coming and didn’t or couldn’t do anything to stop it.'
But Amber Heard has now hit back at the shock claims in a new statement. The 'allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false,' according to Peter Sample, a lawyer for Heard. He adds that Doug Stanhope's guest column 'has no basis in reality and is nothing but the typical celebrity muckraking for profit.'

Johnny Depp has responded to Amber Heard filing for divorce in a statement from his spokesperson.
The statement said: 'Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully, the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.'
The reference to 'gossip, misinformation and lies' is likely a reference to rumours surrounding the absence of a pre-nup agreement.

After 15 months of marriage, Amber Heard has filed for divorce from Johnny Depp.
Heard filed for divorce at the Los Angeles Superior Court citing 'irreconcilable differences', and is seeking ‘spousal support’ from Depp. However, Depp is said to have already asked a judge to reject Heard's claim.
According to the court papers, the actress listed the date of their separation as Sunday, just two days after the death of Depp’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer.
Heard and Depp met in back in 2010 on the set of The Rum Diaries, shortly after Depp’s separation from Vanessa Paradis. The couple got engaged on Christmas Eve 2014 and married the following year at their LA home.
The pair have not been seen in public together since April. Depp’s latest film Alice Through the Looking Glass is due to be released tomorrow, and the star was in London on Monday to attend the premiere, despite the divorce.
