These days she’s one of the most famous women in the world, but there are still a handful of secrets that we just don’t know about Kate Middleton. Now, she’s opened up about her days as a schoolgirl, revealing that even the future Duchess of Cambridge wasn’t immune to earning a slightly bizarre nickname from her classmates…

Visiting her old primary school St Andrews in Pangbourne (not to be confused with St Andrews, Scotland, where the Duchess attended University, and met her future husband), Kate revealed to current pupils that her classmates would refer to her as ‘Squeak.’

Where did this particular nickname come from? ‘Squeak’ was actually a nod to the school’s pets, two guinea pigs named Pip and Squeak. Kate, of course, is the sister of Pippa – are you catching our drift?

‘There was one [guinea pig] called Pip and one called Squeak, so my sister was called Pip and I was Squeak,’ the Duchess explained to St Andrews pupils during her visit.

Little did her classmates know that one day ‘Squeak’ would bear a clutch of royal titles, including Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, The Countess of Strathearn and Princess William of Wales.
