On March 13, Prince William hit the headlines after he skipped one of the most prestigious events in the royal calendar in favour of a ski trip to Verbier with friends Guy Pelly, Tom Van Straubenzee and James Meade.
And Kate Middleton was reportedly ‘less than pleased’ after leaked footage of the prince showed him dancing to ’90s hit I Got Five On It until the early hours of the morning. The 35-year old was also pictured lunching with 24-year-old Australian model Sophie Taylor and her friend Rosie Peate, sparking further controversy.
But it turns out that the Duchess of Cambridge was otherwise occupied. According to The Sun, Kate was on a secret skiing hen do with her sister Pippa on the same weekend. Kate and William reportedly flew out to their ski trips in the same private jet, though Kate travelled a further 100 miles out to Meribel, France.
A friend revealed to the tabloid: “Pippa loves skiing so it was her first choice for a hen weekend. They stayed in a really exclusive catered chalet with maids and chef, who ensured that they were totally spoilt.”
But while the sisters were busy enjoying the hen do, Prince William made front page news for choosing to socialise instead of attending his royal duties. The 35-year-old was accused of being 'work-shy’ after it was reported that he has only undergone 13 official engagements so far this year in comparison to the Queen, who has attended 24 despite ill health.
But it seems Kate wasn't as disappointed in Prince William as first suggested.
A close friend told The Sun: “The girls on Pippa’s hen were giggling as Kate told them that William had had to be escorted down from the mountain for being too drunk after that lunch on the Sunday. All the girls thought it was hilarious. He wasn’t allowed to ski as he’d had too much to drink. The staff didn’t want him to get hurt."
Though the images which leaked of Prince William dancing with the 24-year-old Australian model Sophie Taylor didn't go down well with the Duchess of Cambridge.
“She wasn’t too impressed when she saw the photos of him dancing with that Australian girl,” a source told The Sun.
Kate's sister Pippa is set to wed James Mathews on May 20 in Englefield, Berkshire.
