Lena Dunham has now publicly and properly apologised to Odell Beckham Jr following the outcry on social media, after Lena claimed the NY Giants star made her feel like a 'dog' and a 'marshmallow'.

She had written, as part of an interview with Amy Schumer, ‘I was sitting next to Odell Beckham Jr., and it was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards. He was like, "That's a marshmallow. That's a child. That's a dog." It wasn't mean — he just seemed confused.’

Lena was labelled narcissistic for assuming Odell's quietness was based on her aesthetic, rather than him being shy/preoccupied/not knowing who she was.

Lena later shared this message on her social media sites...

Let's start by acknowledging how phenomenally talented Lena Dunham is. The creator/actress/writer and brains behind comedy Girls, author of critically-acclaimed 'Not That Kind of Girl' and proud winner of TWO Golden Globe awards.

Lena heroically stood up for 'girl squad' chief Taylor Swift, after that 'disturbing' Famous video, publicly boycotted photoshop-enhanced images and spoke out about tackling Sexual Assault and dedicated the video to the 'brave survivor in the Stanford case.'

Her projects have even seen the comedian release her own merch which involves feminist banners and incense holders in the shape of naked women. Er, sex sells guys.

Now the 30 year old is receiving backlash after comments she made about NY Giants star Odell Beckham JR.

She claims the American Football player made her feel like a ‘marshmallow’ and a ‘dog’ at the Met Gala in May and we can all agree, they are not confectionary nor animals we would want to feel like at the star-studded bash. (We would not turn our nose up at a room full off puppies and marshmallows just to be clear).

She started the tirade during a Lenny Letters interview with Trainwreck-star Amy Shumer, when the conversation turned to the Met Gala.

‘I was sitting next to Odell Beckham Jr., and it was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards. He was like, "That's a marshmallow. That's a child. That's a dog." It wasn't mean — he just seemed confused.’

Lena is not a fan of feeling like a marshmallow apparently.

She continued, ‘The vibe was very much like, "Do I want to f*ck it? Is it wearing a … yep, it's wearing a tuxedo. I'm going to go back to my cell phone."

‘It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. I was like, "This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes.’

Schumer responded by congratulating her sartorial efforts ‘You were dressed like a boy, and you looked sexy.’

This ultimately caused ‘Lena Dunham’ to trend on Twitter, as people were not at all happy.

They claimed her comments were narcissism dressed up as feminism

Eagle-eyed Lenny readers also noted how the original interview had been changed and the ‘I attempted to grind my ass on Micheal B. Jordan for an additional twenty minutes then left right after you.’ was not included in the online version.

Lena defended this in a series of Tweets claiming that that the conversation was merely highlighting her own insecurities and was a product of her humour.

We are huge advocates of Feminism here at Grazia, which of course, is striving for the equality of sexes, NOT someone having outwardly showing they want to have sex with you no matter who you are. Maybe Odell didn't know who you were, Lena? Maybe he was live tweeting the event? Maybe he is just shy?

Maybe it is a detail of the night that shouldn't have been touched upon at all.
