Yesterday, Melania Trump made her debut solo foray into the public eye as the First Lady of the United States of America.
The new FLOTUS visited a children’s wing in the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. The 46-year-old chose to read ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go’ by Dr Seuss in celebration of the author’s birthday and National Read Across America Day.
"You'll be as famous as famous can be," Trump read. "With the whole wide world watching you win on TV."
Melania shared the intimate meeting on her official Twitter page:
This is the first time the First Lady has conducted a solo outing as she often accompanies husband Donald Trump, most recently supporting him on Tuesday for his address to a joint session of Congress.
In a statement released by the hospital Melania said: "I am a passionate believer in integrating and interpreting nature's elements into our daily lives to create a warm, nurturing and positive environment."
She continued: "I believe that these same natural benefits can be instrumental to enhancing the health and well-being of all children."
Before leaving the event yesterday, Trump gave the book to a little girl as she said: “I encourage you all to read a lot - to get educated.”
The new First Lady has previously expressed interest in tackling cyber bullying though has yet to forge plans.
