Prince George

Last week we found out that Prince George is the proud owner of Marvin the hamster, and on Tuesday, we learned he embarrassed his Uncle Harry in front of the Obamas (in a totally cute way).

Today brings us more details of our beloved little Prince and it comes via his dad, Prince William.

Wills was on a visit to a primary school in Oxford, where he happened to reveal... Prince George's favourite book!

No, it's not George's Marvellous Medicine. Nor is it Curious George. But it does have a 'G' in it...

The Gruffalo!

The Julia Donaldson book tells the story of a mouse who takes a walk in a European forest and pretends he has a friend Gruffalo (half grizzly bear, half buffalo) to protect him from the dangerous animals he meets en route trying to eat him. This plan works perfectly until the little mouse actually meets a real life Gruffalo on his travels...

The book has been a literary sensation and was the best-selling picture book of the year in 2000 - which makes it an excellent choice for our future king.

Or should we say, future kings plural – as Hello! reported, when asked to clarify if the book was his favourite as well, Prince William replied that yes, it was his and his children's favourite.

Which means, if it's fit for two future kings, it's definitely fit for us. We're putting down War & Peace momentarily (yes, still reading it) and hotfooting it to Waterstones for The Gruffalo. We just hope we don't meet one en route...
