The Queen Was Reported To The Police For Breaking The Highway Code

Earlier this week, Queen Elizabeth II attended the State Opening of Parliament. And it wasn't merely her outfit that was a major talking point on Twitter.

Her Majesty was reported to West Yorkshire police after one beady-eyed viewer noticed that the Queen had forgotten to wear her seatbelt, as she travelled to the prestigious ceremony.

Tom Donohoe, who works for West Yorkshire Police, commented: "I cannot stress enough that the 999 number is for emergencies only."

Under UK law, it is of course compulsory to wear a seat belt at all times but the Queen is immune from any civil or criminal proceedings.

But for those worried about the Her Majesty's safety, a statement on the British Monarchy website reads: "The Queen is careful to ensure that all her activities in her personal capacity are carried out in strict accordance with the law."
