It seems at the moment that wherever we look, there is Ryan Reynolds, sharing more sarcastic (but actually, you know, quite heart-warming) anecdotes about family life with Blake Lively and their two young daughters.

With red carpet season just getting started, Reynolds’ charm offensive is just beginning – but we’re not exactly complaining.

After enlightening us as to the real story behind that dead-behind-the-eyes Hiddleswift photo (which emerged in the aftermath of Taylor Swift’s annual 4th of July blow-out), Ryan’s latest revelation came during his acceptance speech at the Critics’ Choice Awards last night.

Picking up the trophy for Best Actor in a Comedy for Deadpool, Ryan explained that he’d failed to prepare anything in the event of a win, before spotting fellow nominee Tom Hanks in the audience and adding, ‘You’re a huge influence on me. My two-year-old daughter – the first full sentence she ever said was, ‘There’s no crying in baseball’ (which, for those of us unversed in baseball movies, is a famous line spoken by Hanks’ character in A League Of Their Own). She might be just shy of her second birthday, but it seems that James is already quite the film buff.

The Deadpool star also joined forced with our other favourite Ryan, Ryan Gosling, to create the Ryan x Ryan photo opportunity we never knew we needed. Thanks us later…

Earlier in the ceremony, while being crowned Entertainer of the Year, Ryan want to thank ‘my wife, and for no reason at all, I suppose my children,’ but also used his platform for a more serious purpose: to highlight the important work of two charities that are close to his heart, and to remember two young fans who died earlier this year.

‘I would like to dedicate this honour to the Make-a-Wish foundation, and the Sick Kids Foundation of Toronto,’ he said. ‘Two incredible organisations who do so much for so many kids in need.’

‘And I would also like to dedicate this award to the memories of my friends Connor McGrath and Grace Bowen. They didn’t lose the battle, they started a fight and it’s up to us to finish it,’ he added.
