What films will be screened at TIFF?

TIFF commenced on Thursday premiering The Magnificent Seven, starring Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington, followed by screenings of other highly anticipated films including Oliver Stone’s Snowden, Sing starring Scarlett Johansson, Jackie starring Natalie Portman and La La Land starring Emma Stone. What awards are up for grabs at TIFF?

TIFF traditionally does not offer awards for “Best Film” or “Best Actor” like typical film festivals. Instead, the sought after prize is the People’s Choice Award, and last year’s winner was the adored film Room starring Brie Larson - no surprises there. Other notable recipients of the award include 12 Years a Slave, Slumdog Millionaire, The King’s Speech and American Beauty.

This year’s winner of the 2016 Grolsch People’s Choice Award will be announced on Sunday 18th September.
