Last night, Alexander Wang joined the ranks of Stella McCartney, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, and Kanye West, in becoming the latest major fashion name to collaborate with Adidas Originals.

By his description, Wang is a total sneaker head and even once designed an entire clothing collection emulating his favourite pair: the classic white-and-green Adidas Stan Smith.

Little surprise then, perhaps, when following his SS'17 presentation at New York Fashion Week last night, Wang sent models down the runway clad in #adidasoriginalsxaw duds in a surprise finale.

The collab, which is all unisex, includes 84 pieces of apparel and footwear which, toying with the idea of counterfeit goods, features an upside-down Adidas logo. Shirts are printed with email conversations and non-disclosure agreements.

“With this collection, the idea was to take the codes and iconography of the Adidas Originals brand and look at what their symbols mean and turn them on their head, to invert what’s on the surface and add a layer of subversion; also to toy with the idea of what’s authentic and what’s fake, and how a certain setting can change perception entirely,” Wang told Vogue.

Juergen Teller photographed the campaign for the capsule collection, which sees the likes of Rocco Ritchie - Madonna's son, as well as more familiar Wang faces like Binx Walton and Lexi Boling.

The full collection will be available in spring, although for those in New York, a nine-piece capsule collection will reportedly be available at pop-up trucks around the city tomorrow...
