Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain Army is about to gain some tiny new recruits. Fresh from the success of the sell out collaboration with high street label H&M, the venerable French fashion house has just announced the launch of a children’s fashion line, available from June this year.

The 55 piece collection is aimed at boys and girls aged from six to 14, and will initially be available to shop online and in Balmain boutiques. Creative director Rousteing took to Instagram to reveal an adorable campaign snap, featuring four kids styled in coloured trousers and Balmain’s trademark buttoned jackets.

According to WWD, the line features designs that are based on styles from Balmain’s men’s and women’s runway shows over the past five years, including pea coats, white tuxedo jackets, animal print tops and a selection of shoes. Naturally, a slice of kiddy couture won’t come cheap: prices will range from €190 to €5,500 for an embroidered black dress.

Commenting on the new collection, Rousteing said ‘These are the same looks that, over the years, moms and dads have repeatedly pleaded with me to produce for their kids.’ Unlike many fashion brands, who choose to outsource kidswear design to a licensee, the pieces have been designed in house for that signature Balmain edge.

We’re guessing that the Kim and Kanye will be among the first celebrity parents to kit out their offspring in head to toe Balmain - after all, mini fashionista North has already been snapped wearing a Balmain ballerina tutu. Could North be the next Balmain campaign star? We’re calling it…
