You’ve got to hand it to Bella Hadid.
While walking the runway for Michael Kors at New York Fashion Week in a vertiginous pair of 6-inch heels, the 19-year-old model lost her footing and took a tumble – causing even the most impassive of FROW-ers to gasp in concern.
Bella, though, handled the whole thing like a pro, landing with agility on all fours while laughing, before quickly picking herself back up to finish her walk. No mean feat when you’re dressed in a heavily embellished evening dress with a super-cinched in waist, with every eye (and every iPhone) in the room trained on your next move.
In fact, we’d go as far to say that Bella falls with more grace than we’ve ever managed to convey while standing upright.
Taking to Snapchat to show off her battle wounds afterwards, Bella shared a picture of her grazed heel and slightly swollen ankle surrounded by Band-Aid boxes with the caption ‘Fashion week.’ Oh, the glamour.
Luckily, the younger Hadid sister seemed to see the funny side of her catwalk mishap. Captioning a runway clip on her Instagram account, the model thanked Michael before acknowledging her fall ‘seconds before,’ complete with some cheery emoji.
The 19-year-old has clocked up a handful of catwalk appearances over the course of New York Fashion Week, also modelling for the likes of DKNY and Anna Sui, where she was joined on the runway by her older sister Gigi.
Bella joins the ranks of supermodel Naomi Campbell and Victoria’s Secret star Candice Swanepoel, both of whom have taken high profile tumbles in sky-high heels. Not bad company to be in, we’d say.
