Once the preserve of teenage girls circa 1997, the crop top has had a grown-up makeover during recent seasons. From chic off-the-shoulder, Bardot designs, to more asymmetric styles with ruffles, there's more to this humble swathe of fabric today than an excuse to flash a toned midriff.

But there's one crop top in particular that we've been coveting of late, and it's one that seemingly every stylish girl on Instagram has already gotten their hands on: Ganni's Charron tie-front style, which comes in both a Burberry-esque beige check print and a pink and white stripe.

Styling-wise, there's been a division amongst influencers: some, like Caroline Brasch and Pamela Katz, are teaming theirs with the matching skirt or trousers, while others have been wearing theirs with chic separates that play up the fun of the top: whether that's with a simple black denim skirt à la Darja Barannik (top), or palazzo pants like Lucy Williams (below)

One thing that unites them all? There's no abs-baring here: it's all about balancing the sexiness of the top with a high-waisted skirt or trousers, which means its a great look for taking you from day to night.
For bonus points, make sure you accessorise yours with dainty gold necklaces layered at different lengths, to really accentuate your decolletage. Oh, and heaps of confidence, too - after all - you're wearing a crop top!
