A film that got Mr Marc Jacobs' creative antennae buzzing? We're in! The fantastical new movie Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children is a major style event.
For autumn/winter, Marc Jacobs confured up a gothic, feathered and vertiginously high-heeled collection that was the stuff of fashion fantasies - complete with a black-lipsticked and 8in platform-shod Lady Gaga taking centre stage. Much like a Tim Burton film, in fact. Well, funnily enough... the innovative designer and visionary film director have teamed up to celebrate the release of Burton's magical new movie, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children. In the film - whose cast includes acting legends as diverse as Judi Dench, Terence Stamp and Samuel L Jackson - young Jake (Asa Butterfield) is introduced to a hidden world of misfits with special abilities. Given a refuge from the outside world by the dazzling Miss Peregrine (the gothic goddess that is Penny Dreadful's Eva Green), the band of unusual children must be protected from the dangers that lurk close by.
To coincide with this exciting release, Jacobs' flagship London store will have its windows dressed in a theme inspired by the film's plot and characters, and will feature the designer's show-stopping A/W'16 creations and artwork from the film. As Jacobs says, 'My relationship with fashion has always been that each of us stars in our own movies and costumes ourselves to play the part we want. You take blouses and jeans and dresses and you put them together and they tell your story. This is especially potent for people who don't fit in.' Sounds like a peculiar match made in fashion heaven.
