Simone Rocha proved that beauty (and style) are ageless by casting older models in her London Fashion Week show for autumn/winter 2017.

The line-up included a trio of stunning septuagenarians - Jan de Villeneuve, a former model who posed for Norman Parkinson and David Bailey in her hey-day; androdgynous beauty and Peter Lindberg muse Marie Sophie Wilson and Vogue cover girl and Italian model-turned-actress Benedetta Barzini.

Also joining them was Cecilia Chancellor, the 50-year-old who has been making a catwalk comeback in recent years, shooting ad campaigns for Miu Miu and Helmut Lang.

The casting was timely: the week begun with a protest by anti-age discrimination campaigners, while Teatum Jones also opened his show with disabled models on Friday.

London is often at forefront of encouraging diversity in the fashion world: in 2010, Mark Fast sent a combo of plus size and 'regular' size models down the runway, while last season Ashish sent a diverse group of black, Asian and Caucasian models down his runway for SS17.
