Mansur Gavriel’s Bucket Bag… And Others You HAVE To Own

If you have even the remotest interest in fashion you will be aware of the bucket bag; specifically, Mansur Gavriel's bucket bag – possibly the most coveted handbag to have gone on sale this decade.

Originally released in 2013, it was designed by duo Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel, who were inspired to create a handbag that was both luxurious and inexpensive.

'Both Floriana and I felt we couldn't find a beautiful, classic bag below the designer price point range,' Rachel told The Telegraph last year.

'When designing the collection we decided to emphasise cost in the quality of leather and craftsmanship, and minimise cost in areas such as lining and hardware. We simplified in order to accentuate quality and keep the price point manageable.'

Retailing at between £345 and £395, the Mansur Gavriel bucket was a fraction of the price of most 'It' bags – think Mulberry's Alexa bag at over £1k, and Celine's Cartable Pillow bag at north of £2k. It won itself cult status as a result, rapidly flying off shelves both sides of the pond.

And so in an ironic twist of fate, the anti 'It' bag, became an 'It' bag itself, and it remains so today.
