How To Make Your Office Wardrobe Work In The Heat

We've all been there. Just last week, we were commuting to work in high hopes of cracking weather with our go-to Birks wedged on our feet and a wicker basket in hand. Only to find by lunchtime, that the heavens had opened and all we have to protect our sodden toes was an inside-out brolly.

Fast forward a few days and we'd given up all hopes of a heatwave, as we stood sandwiched between sweaty commuters in our double-breasted blazers and loafers...

Well, consider these fashion mishaps a thing of the past. As June beckons and the temperatures rise/become even more unpredictable, make sure to follow these step-by-step rules for sartorial success:

Give The Cold-Shoulder

The trend is not going anywhere anytime soon. Don a décolletage-skimming shirt with split-leg tailored trousers and hole-punch effect block heels.

When heading home, drape a linen blazer over your shoulders to keep the evening's cool breeze at bay.

Go Big Or Go Home

When shopping for weather-appropriate shirts, choose supersized sleeves and oversized silhouettes. Make sure to opt for breathable fabrics such as poplin, too.

Consider it an investment piece, as you can simply swap trousers for deconstructed jeans or a raw-hem denim skirt when the weekend rolls around.

Bed-To-Office Dressing

Yep, we're always on the look out for a quicker way to get ready in the AM. And when the sun says hello, we cannot wait to head outdoors. So this season, try luxe pyjama dressing. Opt for silk or linen fabrics when shopping for the perfect two-piece.

Don two-piece co-ords this season

Finish with block heels or trainers (we don't know how leniant your bosses are when it comes to the office dress code).

Introduce The Tee To Your Wardrobe

You needn't panic if you have little leeway when it comes to dressing for the job. You can still introduce the t-shirt to your work wardrobe by layering beneath a checked two-piece or a gingham dress.

Layer a white tee beneath a spring dress or a checked pinafore

Finish with backless loafers, bare legs and round sunnies (preferably tinted).

Dare To Bare

It's time to bid farewell to tights for good. This season, shop for knee-skimming skirts and keep an eye out for split-leg numbers (they're proving popular this summer).

Tights and socks? We'll see you next season...

Simply team shirt dresses and cropped trousers with backless loafers or block heel pumps. You can always finish the look with fishnet socks.
