New year, new you is certainly a mantra a good handful of A-Listers are taking to heart - at least when it comes to their hair. At the end of 2014, lob fever started to really pick up speed, but seems not everyone was ready to brave the chop before the year was out. Since then, we've seen some of our favourite beauty crushes brave new 'dos - and it's starting to give us serious hair envy. Selena Gomez debuted a new, choppy lob (but of course), while Nicole Richie's gone for a whole brand new hue.

The enduring popularity of the lob (long bob, do keep up at the back) surely has something to do with it being a breath of fresh air after so many seasons of long, beachy waves. The lob has a kind of versatility that longer lengths doesn't - when worn poker straight, it looks polished and chic. When volume and texture are added, it looks piecey and slightly rock'n'roll, all while being at a universally face-flattering length. Selena showed off her new 'do on Instagram, while Brooklyn Decker also stepped out with the style at an event this week.

Then, there's those who are experimenting with new colours. Elle Fanning's back to blonde after switching it up to a darker shade for a role, while Nicole Richie, in an incredibly Nicole Richie-like move, has gone for pure bubblegum pink. Elle's new shade has a kind of caramel softness to it, rather than the icy blonde she was working before. It's a softer way to wear blonde hair in winter - let's face it, few of us are golden and glowing this time of year, so this is much more forgiving than true Scandi-blonde.

If you're looking for a new 'do to break the Janurary blues, all signs point to a long bob still being the style du jour. As well as it being a fashion statement, if you're guilty of letting your long hair stay long due to the bottom three inches being split ends, this cut is the perfect excuse to finally get a clean slate for your hair to grow healthily again by snipping them off. Long live the lob...
