Having a full fat fringe can be great – but maintaining beautiful bangs is no easy task. Wind, sun, rain, sweat… It doesn’t take much to leave your fringe looking a little lacklustre.

So how can you make sure your hair looks great, whatever the weather?

Follow our top five tips to maintaining a full fringe:

1. Wash Your Fringe

If you don’t like to over-wash your hair, in between washes just shampoo your fringe. The oils from your face will likely make your bangs get greasy more quickly than the rest of your hair, so freshening up just this front section of your hair isn’t a bad idea. Plus the hair is shorter here and more regularly trimmed so won’t be so easily damaged by over washing and styling.

2. Blow Dry It

Always blow-dry your fringe from above, aiming the nozzle straight down the bangs from the root. Brush hair first to one side, then the other, then straight down for a fringe that falls just right. Finish by gently curling round a barrel brush and drying if you want a rounded, bouncy finish.

3. Use Dry Shampoo

Carrying a brush around to brush your fringe isn’t a bad idea – but constant brushing or combing can leave your bangs looking greasy. Instead, give your fringe a refresh by spritzing with dry shampoo and teasing through with your fingertips. This will add a bit of extra volume when you’re out and about and stop your hair looking flat.

4. Invest In Some Velcro Rollers

If you have fine hair, give your fringe some bounce with a Velcro roller after blow-drying. Throughout the day your hair will fall and become more flat, so starting off with maximum volume is a good idea. And never straighten the roots of your fringe – you will end up with bangs that are flat, flat, flat.
