Nail art on Instagram is nothing new. You are just as likely to see a fresh mani or an intricate nail design on your feed as you are an artfully arranged brunch or a smug beach selfie.

The galaxy nails hashtag has been tagged on over 74,000 posts (and counting), and the popularity of this sparkly, space inspired design is set to grow and grow.
Unlike some of the more out-there designs (bracelet nails for example), galaxy nails are not just for the gurus of Instagram, they are actualy easy enough to create at home. Plus, they’re much more practical than large 3D style designs which make performing even the smallest of tasks problematic.
For your Milky-Way inspired masterpiece you need a range of light to dark blue nail shades, white polish, and glitter polish. Start by painting your nails in a dark blue shade, and then use a sponge to apply the lighter blue and white polish over the top to create that galaxy-like effect. Thanks to the abstract nature of the design you really can’t mess it up. Complete with glitter or stick on stars for a magical starscape finish.
