Finding the right browtechnician is a search akin to finding the perfect pair of jeans - it takes a lot of trialling, patience and testing out for size.

But, even when you've found the one (well, the one who shapes, threads and tints to perfection), there's plenty of brow blunders you could be making at home. We spoke to Jaimineey Patel, blinkbrowbar's leading therapist about what she wishes her clients knew...

"Hair can grow back in one full cycle so you don't ever need to pluck strays. It makes life so much easier if you don't, and allows you to get a defined shape when grooming. Plucking in between threading treatments often break the hairs leaving ingrown hairs behind - then the growth pattern can take a while to return to the normal cycle."

"Using the wrong colour shade, or dramatically extending or changing your brow shape is a big no no! A top tip is to always choose a colour that’s closest to your natural brow tone, or one shade darker if you’re looking for a bolder brow. Always work with your natural brow shape and accentuate slightly at your arch by tail-filling the area in, in the direction of hair growth."

"We’ve all over-plucked at least once, but learn from your mistakes! Over-plucking means you lose all of your natural arch shape and can change your facial expression altogether. To measure up - take a pencil and place on one side of your nose- straight up to show where the brow should start. Angle to the end of your brow to mark where it should end and angle from the end of your nose through your iris to get the perfect arch position."
