When it comes to #FashionSquads, it doesn’t get much cooler than Balmain's Army. The Parisian label’s creative director Olivier Rousteing has amassed a legion of A-list fans in the form of Kendall Jenner, Kim K, Jourdan Dunn, Gigi Hadid et al (we suggest you follow the visionary on Instagram, if you are not doing so already, for the most glamourous behind-the-scenes snaps in the business). It’s not hard to grasp why…we’re ever-crushing over OR’s signature ‘more is more’ embellishment, sparkles, ‘80s power blazers and statement mini-dresses.
And now Balmain Paris is the latest fashion brand to move into makeup – with a capsule lipstick collection designed for L'Oréal Paris, to be revealed ahead of next Paris Fashion Week. Considering Kendall and Gigi closed his show last season, wearing gold glitter lips, do not expect a collection of muted nude lippys. Oh no.
The cult Color Riche lipstick is interpreted in three ‘striking’ new colour themes. And, for those who are lucky enough to get their hands on it, selected Balmain Paris stores and select retailers worldwide will showcase a limited edition ‘jewel’ edition.
‘With L'Oréal Paris, Rousteing brings the raw creativity with which he has reinvented Balmain, from the Paris runways to his first ever beauty collection,’ the leading make-up brand said in a statement. ‘The crossroads of high fashion and affordable beauty, the Balmain aesthetic reaches a new audience through the world's most-loved lipstick: Color Riche. ‘L'Oréal Paris and Balmain share the same strong vision of femininity and the same goal, to empower women and offer them diverse ways to express themselves,’ Rousteing says. ‘With this collaboration, I'm thrilled to make this idea tangible for every woman around the world.’
The bad news? We’ll have to wait until fall ’17, as the L'Oréal Paris x Balmain Paris collection will go on sale beginning of September. It’s bound to sell out (fast), so we suggest you take the morning off to queue up at your local Boots.
