Instagram has unveiled a brand new logo after undergoing a rather colourful revamp. Designed to reflect the thriving Instagram community, the new logo sports a brand new rainbow gradient. After the 'dreaded' algorithm update which sent the Insta-famous into meltdown, we were a little sceptical but Instagram has promised that no changes will be made to navigation. Phew!

As a matter of fact, the re-brand is designed to enable our photos and videos to speak for themselves with a more minimal in-app U (perfect for those carefully curated coffee-on-bed shots). The new look means all fonts are now in black and notifications have changed from orange to red.

The revamp comes after five years of success for the social media giant as the app has soared in popularity with over 400 million users (that’s a lot of filtered breakfasts). With over 80 million photos and videos being shared every day, Instagram decided to let go of the retro polaroid camera and instead reflect the ever-expanding community.

And Instagram wasn’t the only app to get a makeover as Boomerang, Hyperlapse and Layout have also been re-designed.

Instagram left a thoughtul message for users at the end of the update post, “Thank you for giving this community its life and colour”. How sweet.
