Amanda Seyfried is the latest star to speak out about Hollywood's huge disparity in pay between male and female stars. Amanda has shown just how bad the gender pay gap is in the film industry, revealing that on an unnamed film she earnt just 10% of what her male co-star received.
The* Ted 2* actress told The Sunday Times: "A few years ago, on one of my big-budget films, I found I was being paid 10% of what my male co-star was getting, and we were pretty even in status."
“I think people think that just because I’m easy-going and game to do things I’ll just take as little as they offer … It’s not about how much you get, it’s about how fair it is." She added that female actors in Hollywood “have to decide if you’re willing to walk away from something”.
Of course Amanda Seyfried isn't the only star to speak out about Hollywood's problem with equal pay - Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron and Meryl Streep have all shed light on sexism in the industry. Patricia Arquette said when accepting her Oscar for Boyhood this year: “It’s time to have wage equality once and for all.”
