The shortlist for this year's Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction has just been announced.

The Green Road by Anne Enright, The Improbability of Love by Hannah Rothschild, The Glorious Heresies by Lisa McInerney and Ruby by Cynthia Bond join Elizabeth McKenzie's The Portable Veblen and Hanya Yanagihara's A Little Life on the shortlist for the 21st edition of the prize, which is the UK's only annual literary award for fiction written by women.

The nominees for this year's award were revealed at the Royal Festival Hall this evening, at an event hosted by novelist and co-founder Kate Mosse.

On the judging panel are lawyer and former Apprentice judge Margaret Mountford, writer and journalist Laurie Penny, author Elif Shafak, broadcast journalist Naga Munchetty and writer and Everything But The Girl singer Tracey Thorn.

The winner will be announced on 8th June at a ceremony held in the Royal Festival Hall's Clore Ballroom - plenty of time for you to work your way through the shortlist before the big reveal.

Previous winners include Ali Smith's How To Be Both, and Eimear McBride's A Girl Is A Half-Formed Thing.
