Some of the most popular baby names of the Seventies and Eighties are in danger of becoming extinct according to new information pulled together by the Baby Centre, which has revealed the 24 names that have not been registered during births yet in 2017.
Karen, Janice, Donna, Clive, Gus and Roger - aka a who's who of most people's parents' names - are among those on the endangered list, having suffered a lapse in popularity in recent years, no doubt in favour of more celebrity-inspired names.

'We see names rise and fall in popularity over the years but some names do fall out of favour completely,' said Baby Centre's managing editor Sarah Redshaw. 'So if you are looking for a unique name for your baby that won’t be shared with lots of other children then maybe Cilla or Clarence should be on your list.'
Trending names for this year include shortened boys names - like Freddie, Alfie, Theo, Archie and Charlie - as well as simple girls names, like Mia, Evie, Lily, Ivy and Ava.
