People Aren’t Happy That This All-White Catwalk Show Closed To Beyoncé’s Formation

Australian Fashion Week is in full swing, and there’s one show everyone is talking about...

Bella Hadid

Unfortunately for Oz brand Misha it wasn’t Bella Hadid's starring role, or their sparkling new collection that caused them to hit the headlines, but the rather the odd way they chose to finish their show.

The finale saw Bella Hadid lead a troupe of all white models down the runway to the soundtrack of Beyoncé's Formation. Pretty awkward considering the song is pretty much an anthem for black women with lyrics such as, "Say it loud, I'm black and I'm proud".

Naturally the reaction has been anything but positive. IMG models posted a video of the show to Instagram, and commenters were quick to show their anger.

'No black models yet they're walking to a song about black empowerment?' one wrote. 'This song is an ode to powerful black women around the world, so where are the black women?' someone else asked. 'How you gonna use black songs but not black people?' another commenter questioned.

As you might expect this incident has once again forced people to question the lack of diversity on the catwalk. The Fashion Spot’s biannual runway diversity reports - which look at the shows in the four major fashion capitals - found that last year non-Caucasian models only made up nearly 24.75% of models cast.
