Last night's Grammy Awards were basically kinda the Adele Show (not that we're complaining). She kicked off the show with a rendition of her HUGE hit Hello, gave a tearful and heartfelt tribute to George Michael and picked up the most awards of the night for her music.

Scooping up five gongs, including awards for Best Song, Best Solo Performance and Best Record, it was her award for Best Album which sparked a strange reaction.

Upon accepting the Grammy, Adele stated that really it should have gone to Beyoncé for Lemonade.

During her acceptance speech, Adele said: "I can’t accept this award because, for me, Beyoncé, Lemonade was amazing.

"It was so monumental and so soul bearing. We saw another side of you that we don’t always get to see.

"We adore you, you are our light. The way you make me feel, and the way you make my black friends feel, is amazing. I love you so much, I always have and always will."

She then proceeded to recreate that epic prom queen scene from Mean Girls and actually BROKE her Grammy in two – presumably to give Bey half.

Adele was also left in tears earlier at the awards ceremony after she suffered technical issues – again – during a performance.

During a slow-down version of his hit song Fastlove in tribute to the late George Michael, Adele suffered a technical glitch affecting the sound.

Clearly overcome with emotion, Adele swore and stopped the performance, insisting that she needed to start again in order to do the song, and George, justice.

"I fucked up, I can’t do it again like last year," she said, holding back tears and referencing the technical issues she suffered during her performance last year.

"I'm sorry, I can't mess this up for him," she continued.

Adele was met by cheers and applause from the crowd and re-started the song, this time in the right key and without any sound problems.

A host of famous faces in the crowd praised her for her performance. Chrissy Teigen later took to Twitter to congratulate the singer, writing: "Major @Adele respects. Shit happens when you actually sing live. She was incredible."
