NGL, we’ve been hearing talk of a Britney Spears biopic for quite some time, but we've been so distracted by Celebrity Big Brother and the really crazy celeb couples popping up left, right and centre in 2017 that we kinda forgot all about it.

But the release date has been revealed and it's actually SO soon. Britney Ever After (inventive, eh?) will be broadcast on Lifetime on 18th February at 8pm (Eastern Time) – so, erm, that's about 1:00 am UK time.

Unfortunately, this new Britney biopic is about as far away from the 2002 absolute blockbuster that was Crossroads – which saw Britney in the lead role playing wannabe singer Lucy Wagner as she ran away from home in pursuit of a music career and fell in love with mysterious, moody heartthrob Ben – and follows Brit's journey in the limelight, from The Mickey Mouse Club to her Vegas comeback, via the head shaving incident and that stint in rehab.

Actress Natasha Bassett will take the lead role, with Nathan Keyes playing Justin Timberlake and Clayton Chitty taking on the role of Kevin Federline (you're forgiven if you haven't heard of any of these people, but we're kinda excited to see what they're like). There's also apparently going to be an on-screen version of *NSYNC which we CANNOT wait to compare to the original.

However, we're feeling slightly guilty about counting down the days to the release of Britney Ever After as it turns out the pop princess herself is NOT happy about the film. Lifetime's biopic is actually unauthorised and has come under fire for its inaccuracies, particularly regarding its portrayal of Britney's infamous 2007 breakdown.

Speaking to EW, one of Britney's reps revealed she would not be contributing "In any way, shape or form…nor does it have her blessing."

Which means we may not even get to hear any of Britney's nostalgic hits in the film. Can you even imagine a Britney movie without a little bit of Oops!...I Did It Again or at least I'm A Slave 4 U? US EITHER!
