Earlier this month TOWIE’s Lauren Goodger confirmed that she had split from jailbird boyfriend Joey Morrison.
She took to Instagram to announce the news, insisting the pair were still friends – but now she has spoken out about the real reasons behind the split.
Speaking on Loose Women, Lauren admitted Joel being in prison put a lot of pressure on their relationship.
Lauren said: “It put a big strain on us and our relationship”, and described going out with someone who is in jail as “mentally draining”.
Joey is currently serving a 16-year sentence for drug-related charges, and he was meant to be released this November – but Lauren revealed that’s no longer the case.
She said: “Because he’s not getting out for another year, I couldn’t wait any longer.”
She also explained that he struggled with her lifestyle on the outside – her job, and going out all the time.
A tearful Lauren concluded by saying how determined she is now to focus on her career.
There was speculation that Lauren and Joey had split for a while before Lauren announced it. Back in July, the pair were seen having a big argument inside the HMP Highpoint South, where Joey has been in prison since 2008.
