It's outrageously exciting

Just when we thought there couldn't possibly be a more exciting phrase than "Mean Girls Musical" (which was confirmed earlier this week), the words HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL REUNION came firmly onto our radar this morning.

Like, seriously, we CANNOT.

They were brought to our attention by none other than Zac Efron (FITLORD) himself, who posted a selfie with his former co-stars Corbin Bleu (FITLORD) and Lucas Grabeel (FITLORD).

Just LOOK AT IT.

He captioned it: "@mrgrabeel and I saw@corbinbleu DANCE on AIR ala Fred Astaire last night. He tapped “Firecracker” and lit the stage on [fire] with his moves! Check out#HolidayInnMusical #amazingshow#theboysareback."

Lucas also uploaded this lovely one.

Unfortunately for us and the rest of the world, it doesn't look like there's a fourth film in the pipeline – they were reuniting for something called Holiday Inn Musical.

WHAT is this musical and WHY WEREN'T WE INVITED?

This comes after the world well and truly lost their minds at the Mean Girls Musical announcement earlier this week.

Mean Girls bosses took to Facebook to announce the news, posting: "Happy October 3rd! [it was October 3rd] The Mean Girls Musical is coming to Washington, D.C. Fall of 2017!

Official Instagram and Twitter: @MeanGirlsDC

That might be the best set of hashtags we've seen ever in our lives.

And don't fret – this (probably) won't be some kind of shoddy half arsed attempt at an adaption, as Tina Fey herself is involved.

The play is apparently going to be created by Tony Award-nominated lyricist Nell Benjamin, who did Legally Blonde The Musical, as well as Tina Fey and her husband Jeffrey Richmond (who composed the title song for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).

Unfortunately for us in the UK, there are at present only plans to stage the musical in Washington DC.

But if anything's worth a trip to the US…
