Ed Sheeran's basically winning at life, isn't he? In 2017, the singer returned from his brief musical hiatus and gave us banger after banger with the release of his album, '÷', and practically took every single spot in the UK Top 40.

Ed also topped off an incredible year with a step forward in his love life, too. He and Cherry Seaborn got engaged over the Christmas period (with Ed announcing the news in January 2018).

Taking to Instagram to share a VERY adorable photo, Ed revealed, 'Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx'. [sic]

Now, Ed and Cherry have tied the knot! Despite a LOT of rumours that they'd secretly got married in 2018, Ed and Cherry officially got married in February 2019 in a super-intimate ceremony with just 40 guests. A source close to the singer said, "It was very quiet – just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest."

Who is Cherry Seaborn?

Cherry Seaborn is Ed Sheeran's wife. They've reportedly been dating since 2015 and were first spotted kissing in a snap shared by Ed's pal Taylor Swift back in July. Taylor had thrown a party celebrating a friend's engagement, as well as Ed and Cherry's one-year anniversary. Cute.

After months of a long-distance relationship (Cherry was living in the US), she moved back to the UK to be with Ed in December 2016.

Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn were childhood friends and both went to Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk. It's thought Ed had always had a crush on Cherry, but she left to go to university in America making a romance between the pair a teeny bit complicated.

After each going their separate ways after school, Ed and Cherry reconnected when Ed touring the USA and they both happened to be attending mutual pal Taylor Swift's 4th July Party in 2015.

Speaking to People Magazine, Ed said, "I went on tour again, and then I went to Taylor’s 4th of July party. I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’

"The rest is history."

In 2016, Cherry quit her life in America to move back to the UK to be with Ed - and fans will remember that's when he went quiet on the music and social media front.

"We were basically like, ‘Let’s both quit our jobs and let’s have a year of forming a tight bond and a relationship,'" Ed said in an interview in 2017. "So we went traveling and spent every day for a year together."

Not any more - Ed and Cherry are now married. Ed announced he and Cherry had taken their relationship to the next level with an engagement in January 2018.

Ed's previously spoken out about starting a family with Cherry, and even hinted he may stop making music when the couple have kids.

“My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids,” he told the Daily Star. “I’m going to be like, ‘I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of’.”

He also added, “It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, I want to be a good father.”

Yes they are. Ed first sparked rumours that he might already be married back in February, when he was spotted wearing a band on his ring finger. However, in February we met up with Ed backstage at the BRITs where he addressed the rumours.

Rumours started up again in August after Ed was interviewed for Access, an American TV show. In the interview he was asked about his wedding plans. Instead of replying, he smiled as he gestured towards the silver ring on his ring finger.

But Ed and Cherry were reported to have got married in February 2019 in an intimate ceremony with just 40 guests.

Speaking recently about his wedding, Ed said, "Me and Cherry's actual wedding was a tiny affair, with hardly anyone there. We did it at night, at a random day in the middle of January, in the middle of nowhere.

"No one knew, no one came to it, we lit candles and we got married, went back and had a curry."

He told Jessie Ware on the Table Manners podcast, "The wedding party was more a celebration of us and our friends. I didn't want pictures getting out and I'm surprised they didn't. Everyone was very present."

Has Ed Sheeran written any songs about Cherry Seaborn?

Opening up to US magazine, Ed explained, "Perfect was the first song that I wrote for the album - it was inspired by Cherry.

"The line that goes, 'Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song' was about when we were in Ibiza listening to Future’s March Madness literally not wearing any shoes and going mental on the lawn, which was quite a nice time.

"I didn’t see her first reaction to the song because she lived in New York at the time. So I just emailed it to her but she did really like it."

Ed confirmed the birth of their daughter Lyra a month later when he shared an adorable snap of some tiny socks and a blanket on Instagram. He wrote, "Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you... Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

"We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I'll see you when it's time to come back, Ed x."

What is Cherry Seaborn's job?

After graduating Duke University, Cherry reportedly worked on Wall Street in New York. According to The Sun, it was 'rumoured that she worked as an Advisory Consultant at Deloitte & Touche LLP.

While at uni, Cherry was a keen hockey player, basing her decision to attend Duke on their reputation as a good school for the sport.

On the university's website, Cherry explains, "Ever since I was in high school I've always wanted to study in the United States.

"I looked into different schools that were good academically and also at hockey, and Duke was one that really jumped out at me.

"I made my decision purely based on recommendations.

"Duke has such a good name in England, and there were a lot of people who told me to go there. There were also some English girls [at Duke], so I talked to them too."

Cherry apparently led her hockey team to the finals of the British University Championships two years in a row in 2012 and 2013.

Wait, did Ed Sheeran name a pub after his wife Cherry Seaborn?

Apparently so... according to reports, Ed opened a pub in the grounds of his Suffolk estate and named it The Lancaster Lock after Cherry - whose full name is Cherry Lancaster Seaborn.

Sporting a 15ft sign above the door, passers-by have described the pub's new look as "incredible", with a source saying, "The sign is massive, which came as a bit of a surprise, but everyone locally is pleased to have Ed here and he’s always been a perfect neighbour."

The boozy den is said to have underground rooms and a tunnel leading to the main house.
