Liam Payne and Cheryl – Cheryl Cole? Cheryl Tweedy? We're still not really sure how to refer to her at the mo – are super, truly, deeply, MADLY in love, despite the fact their relationship makes zero sense.
That's according to Simon Cowell anyway, who promises he had no idea about their romance until it all came out in February 2016. Do we believe him? Put it this way: we're pretty certain Si is the Lord Varys of the entertainment industry.
Anyway, he claimed to The Sun not to have known about their budding lurve because it definitely wouldn't have helped boost X Factor 2016 ratings would it, but says he got over his doubts PDQ after a night out with them in LA.
"I saw them together and we had a really nice dinner," he said.
"They were on good form. They're like two little chipmunks madly in love. Literally, they were so cute."
Two… little… chipmunks. heat's not sure, but we don't think anyone ever described Cleopatra and Anthony as chipmunks. And Chiam are basically the modern equiv.
When quizzed about Cheryl's now-estranged husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, Simon said he's "not going to talk about the past".
"But importantly they [Liam and Cheryl] both seemed very happy over here and very relaxed. I'm happy for them."

It comes as Cheryl unveiled a brand new tattoo over the weekend, this time of a tiny little love heart on her finger.
Given that Liam's already reportedly got himself an inking that pays tribute to Cheryl's massive floral bum tatt, could body art be Chiam's preferred communication method of choice?
