Idris Elba is James Bond. He's cool like James Bond, he's British like James Bond, and he looks like he could probably punch you in the face and steal your girlfriend, just like James Bond probably would. The dick.
Here's the thing: LOTS of people want Idris Elba to be James Bond. The team here at* heat* want Idris Elba to be James Bond; leaked Sony documents revealed they probably wanted Idris Elba to be James Bond, and we're pretty sure you probably want him to be James Bond too.
So why can't he just y'know, BE James Bond already? Just be Bond, Elba. Just do it. Go get a small gun, put on a suit, talk really posh, get a nice car and have ill-advised one-night stands with sexy Russian spies that are trying to kill you.

The only person not rooting for Elba seems to be James Bond book adapter Anthony Horowitz, who said: "For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It's not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too 'street' for Bond. Is it a question of being suave?”
Well sadly, Elba can't just go and be Bond. Wrinkly blockhead Daniel Craig still needs to finish his turn in the upcoming movie Spectre, even though he's made it pretty clear that he's had enough.
Speaking to Rolling Stone while promoting Skyfall, Daniel Craig said: "I've been trying to get out of this from the very moment I got into it.
"But they won't let me go, and I've agreed to do a couple more, but let's see how this one does, because business is business and if the shit goes down, I've got a contract that somebody will happily wipe their ass with."
In the meantime the internet has burped up a Bond montage that features Idris Elba as the man with the licence to kill. Thanks to Vulture, clips from Luther and various other Idris roles are spliced together pretty well to make him look like the Bond that everyone wants. The Bond that everyone DESERVES. The Bond that probably won't suggest slapping women is fine when he's old and irrelevant.
