David Beckham has spoken of his upset over one of his sons telling him he felt too much pressure to play football.

Goldenballs told ABC news how we would love to have one of his four children – Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 13, Cruz , 10 and Harper, 4 – follow in his footsteps, but only if it was their choice.

He said:

“I'd love them to play soccer, but I want them to be happy doing it, you know.

"One of my boys turned around to me the other day, he said, 'Daddy, you know, I'm not sure I want to play football all the time...' It broke my heart a little bit.”

Totes just broke our hearts too, Becks.

David continued:

"He said, 'Every time that I step onto the field, I know people are saying, you know, 'This is David Beckham's son,' and if I'm not as good as you, then it's not good enough.' I said, 'Okay, stop right there... You play because you want to play."

Hear, hear! David Beckham for Dad of the Year Award!

Daughter Harper, however recently told her mum Victoria Beckham that’s she’s more interested in football than fashion.

Vicky B told Good Morning America:

"She loves fashion, you know, as all little girls do… but she loves sports.

"She said to me the other day 'Mummy, I think I want to play football' soccer sorry...Dagger through the heart! I have three boys that want to play football, you know, come on, let one of them want to be into fashion or dance."

Hey! Both Romeo and Brooklyn already have blooming modelling careers.

We're sure your parents will be proud whatever you do, Beckham clan.
